Oh, what a cool GPS! – that’s how customers most often react to our Bluetooth tracker notiOne go!. So let us clear this up right away: notiOne go! is not a GPS tracker, even though it can locate items from the other end of Poland. Our device is based on Bluetooth technology and a community network of more than 2 million users. It also works wherever GPS trackers can’t be used. So what’s the difference?
GPS (Global Positioning System) – a global system for determining coordinates
Coordinates are calculated based on the time it takes signals sent by satellites to reach the receiver. This allows the system to provide precise, continuous information about the position of a given object at a given time. Thanks to today’s technological progress, almost every phone has a built-in GPS module that can receive these signals. This makes it possible to use apps such as car sat-navs, route-planning apps for runners, and many, many more.
Using GPS technology is an accurate and fast way to locate the objects we’re interested in, but you need to bear in mind the limitations that come with it, including:
- Cost – this technology is more expensive, not only at the time of purchase but also during use. For the device to send the location data it has collected, it needs to connect to a server, which means it has to be fitted with a SIM card. Running a SIM card usually involves an additional cost in the form of charges for data transfer, among other things.
- Power consumption – high energy demand means frequent charging. Most devices of this type need charging after just a few days.
- Size – a large battery increases the size and weight of the whole device. This is crucial when monitoring small objects.
Bluetooth technology – wireless data transmission between devices
It allows a radio signal to be sent over a distance of up to several dozen metres. This technology is most commonly used by hands-free kits, mice, wireless keyboards and even fridges.
Until now, Bluetooth trackers have only been associated with locating objects over short distances, such as keys lost somewhere in the flat. The notiOne go! Bluetooth tracker, however, allows you to locate things even from tens or hundreds of kilometres away. How is that possible? The signal emitted by this small device is picked up by phones equipped with partner apps. There are currently more than 2 million of them in Poland, and the network grows every day. A phone that picks up the signal from a notiOne go! determines its location and sends this information straight to the servers. As a result, the tracker’s owner can see its position in the free app just moments later. We wrote more about how a Bluetooth tracker works in this article.
- Cost – notiOne go! has no SIM card. The only cost is the purchase of the device. Both the app and using it are completely free. The device itself is also much cheaper than a GPS tracker. So you can afford to buy several trackers to protect more of your belongings.
- Power consumption – a small coin cell battery lasts for several months of continuous use. This means notiOne can be fitted in hard-to-reach places.
- Size – the device is the size of a PLN 5 coin and weighs about 6 grams. This makes it possible to track even very small objects, or to hide it effectively in the tiniest nooks and crannies.
All these features of the notiOne go! Bluetooth tracker mean it can be used for any purpose, from finding keys and USB sticks, through protecting people and animals (even the smallest ones), to recovering stolen vehicles or monitoring items in warehouses.
