How to Keep Your Luggage Safe: 5 Gadgets

9 September 2020

How do you keep your luggage safe when travelling? It’s a question asked not only by people going on holiday, but also by those on business trips. Discover 5 clever gadgets that will protect you from having your luggage stolen or lost on your travels.

Luggage tags

There are plenty of stylish luggage tags on sale. Write your contact details on one – an honest finder will be able to track you down easily and return your lost bag.

A solid lock

Instead of relying on a finder’s honesty, you can protect yourself against unwanted, light-fingered hands. If your suitcase isn’t fitted with a robust TSA lock (Travel Sentry® Approved), consider buying a padlock. Fitted to the zip pulls, it will make it harder for uninvited people to open your luggage.

A steel mesh

This solution works well for smaller bags. Its advantages are its compact size – when folded it takes up really very little space. And the material it’s made of makes it hard to cut through, so it effectively protects the contents of a suitcase or backpack against theft. It’s usually secured with a padlock, so don’t worry – it isn’t easy to remove 🙂

An anti-theft strap

A great solution for protecting luggage containing electronic equipment. This kind of strap replaces the traditional strap on a bag – it looks almost the same, but inside there are steel cables that make it impossible to cut through. What’s more, the carabiners attaching the strap to the bag have additional locks that prevent it from being unclipped accidentally.

You can also wrap straps like these around a bag, or use one as a belt for your trousers – the latter also come with RFID protection, which prevents the data on your credit cards from being skimmed.

notiOne

This little tracker works brilliantly as discreet protection for your suitcase. Hidden among your things or in one of the bag’s pockets, it communicates with your phone and with phones running compatible apps, of which there are almost 2 million in Poland. If, for example, you lose sight of your suitcase at the airport, you’ll be able to use the free app to find out where your missing luggage is, hot-and-cold style.

We have great news – as a reader of this blog you can buy this tracker 20% cheaper!
