More and more people over 60 are using smartphones. Take a look at 5 very easy-to-use yet practical apps for any senior. Recommend them to your parents or grandparents and see how they like them.
For keeping in touch with loved ones
WhatsApp is a simple messaging app that doesn’t require you to provide personal details and works with your phone number. It makes staying in touch with family easier, and also allows video calls, easy photo sharing and even short voice messages.
For sharing experiences
We couldn’t leave out the biggest social network, Facebook. A local neighbourhood group lets seniors keep their finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the area, while themed groups are a great place to develop their interests and share experiences. Seniors are happy to help and share tips, whether on cooking or gardening. On Facebook you’ll find a group dedicated to even the most niche hobby, where people over 60 will find a place for themselves too.
For keeping an eye on a senior’s belongings
notiOne is the app for a small tracker (pictured below), which makes it easy to find keys under a pillow or even a phone on silent. It’s also a great aid for remote care of an older person. If they agree to share their phone’s location, another family member with the app can see where the parent’s or grandparent’s phone is, and so can tell where they currently are.

For doing the shopping
We don’t mean discount apps here, but those offering home delivery of groceries. Szopi and Glovo cover the most popular supermarkets in Poland. If a trip to the shop for a bigger shop means carrying heavy loads, this is a perfect convenience for an older person. Their favourite and most essential products will be delivered to their home at the most convenient time.
Banking apps are easy for seniors
Big corporations know what they’re doing. Today’s banking apps are very intuitive and easy to use, and they’ll help seniors save time and effort. In such an app they can not only easily check their account balance, but also pay bills (no need to go to the post office!), make a transfer and even buy a bus ticket.
Other media
For those who like exploring new media, installing YouTube or Spotify is a great idea. Seniors will find something for themselves there and discover new corners of the internet.
